HYCAP, based in Oxford, is a private equity fund manager dedicated to developing an end to end hydrogen ecosystem which is able to deliver fully green (and hence zero carbon) hydrogen solutions for customers in the transport, construction and industrial sectors. This will be achieved by investing in leading teams and companies with expertise across the hydrogen value chain, to enable rapid growth and the improved economies of scale which are required to unlock this important sector. HYCAP has raised £240m in a first fund raising close, and is targeting a final close in late 2023 which will aim to increase this amount. HYCAP has made five investments to date across the hydrogen value chain and will continue to increase the portfolio over the next three years.
The company has 14 employees across the investment, technology and investor relations teams, and is now looking to recruit analysts as the fund reaches final close.
We are looking to hire two – three Private Equity Analysts to compliment the team and support the growth ambitions.
The role:
As an analyst you will be a key part of the HYCAP team, involved in researching new technologies and commercial approaches, analysis to underpin both new investments and to support the development of the existing portfolio of companies, and supporting on the due diligence process which we undertake before each investment. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, able to develop new ideas to encourage rapid development of the sector, as well as being willing to query and challenge existing assumptions.
Primary responsibilities will include:
- Technical and economic analysis (numeric) to assess and quantify opportunities as they arise
- Scientific and economic input into investment strategy for both new opportunities and our portfolio company management teams
- Financial modelling
- Investment and market research
- Preparation of presentation materials to summarise the results of your research
- Assistance in the execution of transactions
- Communication and engagement with portfolio company management
Candidate requirements:
Required:
- Degree level qualification in a numeric, scientific or economic field
- Excel/other modelling experience
- Ability to be office based in Oxford
- Excellent report writing skills
- Demonstrable organisational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Willing to travel when required
- A passion for sustainability and work which achieves impact
- An understanding of the decarbonisation challenge
- Self-starter willing to contribute to a small team from day one
Preferable requirements, which will help an applicant:
- Knowledge of the UK energy sector (in particular, cleantech, renewables, hydrogen)
- Coding experience
- An understanding of valuation and M&A/financial markets
